Become an electrician
The Electrical New Entrants Course is a new course for those wanting to break into the industry who can’t get an interview with a company because they haven’t any qualifications or experience.
The aim of this course is to give some knowledge, a little practical experience and some valuable City and Guilds qualifications at Level 3 so that you can approach a potential employer with some credibility.
This course is not designed to create ‘5 minute electricians’ who wish to immediately set themselves up as self-employed domestic installers. You simply will not have sufficient experience to be competent.
It should be noted that this course in no way replaces a full NVQ or technical certificate which could be undertaken once employment has been gained so that you can ‘earn while you learn’, say on a day release or evening course.
The course comprises a week of theory training; circuits, protective devices, switching and control, circuit design, safety etc - a weeks practical work building a variety of circuits using the latest tools, equipment and techniques and 2 weeks gaining valuable Level 3 Qualifications including PAT testing, Building Regs (Part P), Inspection and Testing and Wiring Regulations (18th Edition).
All exam fees are included as are refreshments and lunch. The only things to purchase are work boots and books totalling no more than £150.
The cost of the course is £3000 and can be paid in instalments with no finance or credit agreements and no interest. A deposit of £500 will secure a place followed by £500 on the day of registration and 4 further payments of £500 to be paid before any exams are taken.
It should be noted that candidates are purchasing the course tuition and exam fees NOT qualifications. These have to be earned by your hard work.
Ideally you should have a good understanding of the English language and be able to work with whole and decimals of numbers as well as square roots and squares. A Casio fx-83ES or GT calculator is essential as is a pen and a pad of paper.
